FIVE PLANT-BASED VEGAN MYTHS BUSTED!

So many people are shifting in to the Vegan lifestyle nowadays. From 0.4% in 2015, it has then spiked to 6%, that’s 600% increase! (Global Data)
Despite that amazing growth, many people are still hesitant to take the plunge or try Veganism. Why? Well, let’s look at 5 common myths about the Vegan lifestyle, specifically the Plant-based vegan lifestyle. Let’s debunk it!
Number 1.
Becoming vegan doesn’t mean you don’t get enough protein. It is one of those “facts” that the meat industry would like us to think. Broccoli actually has more protein than beef! What?! In addition to that, you only lack protein if you don’t eat enough calories. If you hear of anyone lacking energy or experiencing “malnutrition” from the Vegan lifestyle, it most likely is because they are not eating enough calories.
Number 2.
I also thought so in the beginning. I thought I won’t be able to survive without any source of proteins such as eggs (I was vegetarian). In fact, that was actually the only reason why I personally didn’t go full vegan yet. And I loved cheese! In reality, it takes intentionally changing your mindset about this lifestyle and to be open with learning, growing and trying the Plant-based lifestyle! Once I did and tried it… I thrived in the first week… and it turned to one month… two months… etc. until now!I read so many stories of people doing this for years, decades, and living a healthy life! ⠀
And so I tell myself now… “Well how about that Jenna, it worked on you girl!”
Number 3.
Contrary to popular belief, plant-based is not restrictive! You can eat as much as you want and be full.
There’s so much to be said in that sentence. How is it not restrictive when it is vegan? What about the meat-lovers out there? How can they be satisfied with this lifestyle? And veggies are so light in the stomach!
That’s why the Plant-based lifestyle is also called “starch-based” at times. It is from eating a balance of starch-based food and vegetables, that you will feel the fullness and no restriction on the amount of food you eat. Which brings us to…
Number 4.
As mentioned above, Plant-based lifestyle is heavily starch-based. However, this mindset of “carbs” = “gaining weight” is from years and years of “weight loss programs”. Yes, if you restrict yourself from eating carbs, you will lose weight. But so as restricting yourself from eating meat, vegetables, even sweet! The idea is when you eat more than calories than what your body needs, you gain weight.
I used to think eating rice and potatoes make me gain weight! I eat a lot of them now, but I still lose weight… Wait, what?! How?!⠀⠀
Simply put, stay away from processed carbs and focus on healthy starches. For example, food such as rice and potatoes have naturally occurred “resistant starches” in them, which are beneficial for the large intestine, and make us stay full longer!
Last, but not the least, Number 5.
It is not expensive! Vegan can be expensive when you eat at high-priced vegan restaurants or buy those meat substitutes in the grocery. In truth, being in the Plant-based lifestyle, I spend half my usual grocery bill than before! I’ve read countless articles online and even friends who are on the lifestyle, proving this as well! Google it after reading this, and you’ll be surprised.
Well, those are just 5 myths that we’ve debunked, but WOW, right? There are still so much more out there that carries a negative stigma with the Plantbased Vegan lifestyle. What are some thoughts you had about the Vegan lifestyle? We would love to hear your comments below.

HOW 2BPB – Plant-based Weighloss Online Course LAUNCH!

On Monday, the 4th of November, 2019, I launched my Plant-based lifestyle online course I call “HOW 2B PB”, which simply means, “How to be Plant-based”.
Why this online course? As a Jesus-loving human being, I firmly believe God called us to love Him and one another, be in a relationship with Him and to steward His creation. He is coming back after all, and I don’t want to be caught red-handed killing and abusing His creation- humans, animals, the environment. I also truly believe how we act and serve each other is heavily influenced by the theology we believe and carry. I am not perfect, but “changed and changing still”, right?
So, I am extremely passionate about building the Church, fighting for social justice, and committed to living a sustainable life. I love the environment period. I strive to be a healthier version of myself, to continually equip myself to do the works God has planned for me in advance to do. Long story short, I desire to empower others, especially (drawn to serve) women, to live a life of abundant and encourage and teach you in faith, beauty, social justice, and sustainability. A mouthful, isn’t it? But in Jesus’ name, we can do it!
Shifting to the Plant-based lifestyle is one of the biggest ways we can help make a HUGE dent in solving the environment and climate emergency the world is facing right now. Recycling and using metal straws help yes, but the meat industry has a vast environmental footprint. (Another post) You can choose to keep living in the dark, but the fact remains the same. It’s not enough that we live comfortably in this generation. I strive to do my best to make this world habitable for the next generations. I don’t want to be an advocate of anything because I love peace! I want everyone to be OK. And I know to fight and advocating for something, whether it be my faith, social justice- freedom for slaves, or this- the Plant-based lifestyle. It’s hard enough disciplining and educating myself, how much more educate others?
I always go back to my “Why” who is Jesus. I cannot stand blindly while the person next to me still needs to hear what I’ve heard, and see what I’ve seen, and yet to hear what I’ve heard.
And so, on Monday, finally, I launched the Plant-based online course! Yay. It is not only to help one live a healthier life, lose weight in the process, therefore saving yourself but ultimately you are saving the planet for the next generation.
In the morning, I hosted a live masterclass on Plant-based lifestyle. And when evening came, I gathered some of my closest friends (in Sydney) my home, cooked a “pokeo bowl” style meal for them, in the intention of showing it is easy to make Plant-based vegan food, and it is yummy. I have to say, even some of my meat-lover friends loved it, and that’s an ultimate win for me! I may have to just tour all over the world cooking for people! (haha!)
I am grateful to be able to do what I do. It is an absolute pleasure to love and serve people. And cheers to the beginnings of this advocacy. Cheers to you for still reading this right now.P.S. If you or anyone you know, are curious to try the Plant-based lifestyle, would like to live a healthier life, lose weight healthily, make a huge impact on the environment. You do not have to completely go vegan, but even “Meatless Mondays” or even better become Plant-based for most of the week. Whichever it is, I created this Online Course precisely for you. I made it so much easier! Head on to my Online Course Programs to enroll now.

The Good Place.

Watching the “Good Place” tv series made realize how hard it is to be a good person these days. At one point in Season 2(?), they mentioned the point system they followed to determine if you go to the Good place or the Bad place. One hundred years ago, it was probably easier to do a good deed THAN now. For example, if you buy a shirt to give to someone, before it would be pretty straightforward, that’s a good gesture, plus points! Now, if we buy a piece of clothing to give to someone, we have to consider- who made the shirt and what are they made of? Are the workers of the factory that made them well paid and had good working environment? What are the clothes made of? Were they made of materials that were harmful to the planet? So, if you gifted someone some clothes, that’s a good gesture, but because you unknowingly bought clothes made from a slave trade factory, and it’s made of bad materials, you end up losing points than gain points! Crazy!
I know the Good Place is just a fiction tv series, but the topics they raise up are valid and important to consider. They hide behind the façade of good comedy, but it resonates deep to what the society in general must consider.
Ethics aside, it made me reflect and say “Jesus really came at the right time 2000 years ago”. Lol. What do I mean about that? Well, for sure if He lived in the present, He will still live the perfect life. It was just less complicated before, when you think of ethics. It made me realize again when Jesus said that we will do more miracles than He did. And I think with that, we will do more things as His Church, while He works with us from beside the Father. (insert verse)
PS. The Good Place season 4 (last season! Huhu) is currently playing on Netflix. And NO, this is not an ad.

Dating apps has been a subject of talk around my peers in the past months (when you’re in your 20’s/30’s amIright?! Lol), then I realized something… A friend was sharing of a friend who’s been dating a lot for the past three or so years through dating apps, and she still hasn’t found anyone to […]
There was a shift in me when I truly and finally realized that my life will never ever be stable, from the world’s perspective anyway. And I cry as I write this, it’s beautiful. When I said YES to my Jesus, it wasn’t a YES to a stable perfect human life, where everything is sunshine […]
Isaiah 6:3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” I used to think Heaven would be boring. When I read the Bible, it says we would worship God forever. My 14-year old self was not excited about that. (haha!) Well, […]
“The minute you willingly lowered yourself for someone else, they would never, ever look at you the same way.” I read that line from a novel I was reading. It was not a life-changing type of book, it was a passing time kind of romance novel. Yet, however, my God still speaks to me through […]
One of the unhealthiest things in our faith is when you process your thoughts and doubts about God publicly. I think there is something valuable in speaking our thoughts with people we trust who can listen to us without judgment. And allow them to speak over us with love and truth. Grace and truth. Grace […]

Romans 8:37 (NIV) “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Back in the glory days of Rome, a “Roman triumph” was a parade of celebration by the victorious military commander. Let’s bring that concept into this verse and picture this: You drive into the city, head held high […]
Lies. “An arrow of venom pierced my heart. This is why humans invented lies, I thought. No other animal in nature lies. The truth is ruthless. It cuts you open, shoving your face into the mud. It forces you to look reality in the eye and deal with it. To feel the real weight of […]
Why must we romanticize everything we experience? I know that is not accurate for every person in the world. We are after all, made of different seeds and hues. I am talking of myself. Perhaps, without the risk of sounding immature, when we are kind, hopeful, and positive in aspects that matter, we do have […]
Beginning of last year (2018), I was compelled to challenge myself to a ‘Less is More’ mission. One year is done, I made it you guys! I moved to a new flat, have my own bedroom (hallelujah! as it’s impossible to pay for something cheap when you live in Sydney). Apart from buying a […]

APARTMENT TOURS and ETERNAL MANSION

I cannot lie, I have been very much into home interior design for the past two years. Hence having moved to two different apartments in the past two years, I’ve decorated my apartment/room in glee. I currently live in a supposed to be sunroom converted to bedroom, and it is the size of a studio bedroom. It is my sanctuary. I believe I have rearranged my room four times already, until I find a new comfort.
What is the point of this post? Well, I was watching yet again another apartment tour on my favorite channel- YOUTUBE channel, haha!
I was marveling in wonder the different features in this 12-foot tall, all floor, 9 bedroom luxury apartment in New York when my thoughts shifted to eternal things. Well, as a beloved daughter of the Most High King, of course my mind went there. OF COURSE the Holy Spirit led me to those thoughts. There was no way I was simmering in jealousy, I was just deep in admiration in the beautiful technology and designs found in the apartment. BUT to be honest, that is nothing, NOTHING in comparison to what awaits us in the future, the eternal glory of our KING, that is GOD. *chills*
I cannot even begin to imagine what it will be like then. Each of HIS children, have a mansion to themselves? WHOA. I found myself whispering simple words of a daughter to her Father, “Lord, can I decorate the mansion You’re giving me to whatever I like?” haha! IMAGINE!!!

Promo stops for new books and new authors. I’ve been getting lots of e-mails from authors to review their books. Since my TBR list never seem to thin out, I just don’t have time to read additional books (and I’ve been so slow in reading lately. anyway) So, I thought of this meme to help them promote their book instead. Random thoughts from me. Really. Anything under the sun! by Jill from Breaking the Spine This meme features books that I can’t wait to get hold on of. This is from Jill from Breaking the Spine. inspired by In My Mailbox by The Story Siren. This meme features all the stuffs I got from that week. *Note* The 2 memes I made up were created by me (from one of my daydreaming).

This Thing.

I was just watching this comedy show on Netflix and the comedian was introduced with these mean descriptions but made funny and acceptable (because comedy.). And to an extent I understand it’s meant to be funny and I hate to even admit it that I kind of can’t help it but laugh sometimes when they say things like that. Because I know they don’t really mean it. Right?
.
It made me wonder though, how long have we, as a humanity, been doing this? “This” meaning insulting ourselves and accepting these lies and deem them reasonable, even without totally agreeing to them.
.
I don’t mean to sound condescending to anyone, but these are just the thoughts that plague my cluttered mind (during a time when I actually need to do some real work done haha). Hear me out on this.
.
I just care about people, in general. Yes, I am not a fan of everyone, but I love humanity. I choose to love humanity. And I say this in the hopes that someday, more and more of us if not ALL of us will learn to love ourselves. Show love to others by using real kind TRUE words, and not spreading lies or negativities. For what does negativity have space in your life? Nothing! They don’t make us move forward. They hold us back. Even little ‘funny’ words that seem harmless in the beginning but actually stays on the human mind..and then when we’re alone, we reflect back on to those words and ask ourselves…”could it be true?”. And that’s when the doubts come creeping back in.
.
And don’t. let. them. in.
.
So here’s to me hoping you are on with me on this, whoever you are reading this super random/but not really, blog.
.
I would like to hear your thoughts on my unedited rambling thoughts. (comment below!)
(and here are pictures I got from Pinterest to make us all happy and smile!)

Personal Diaries #1

Once there was a girl who was given by a promise by her Creator.
It was unlimited. Unexpected. Unwarranted.
It caught her by surprise.
She did not want any of that nor anything to do with it.
But she had said YES. And with her big YES came further yesses.
Every step was laden with a burden. Heavy. Exhausting.
She did not want any of that nor anything to do with it.
But she had said YES. And with her big YES came further yesses.
A promise is a promise.
His word completes its purpose.
Question after question.
Answer after answer.
Demand and supply.
Trust and Fall.
Faith and Perseverance.
Sweat beads on her head.
Blood pumps wildly in her heart.
Peace surrounds her being.
Be still, He says.
You are a conqueror. More than a conqueror.
You are a warrior.
I am Your shield.
I will fight for you.
We will fight together, side by side.
Look at me, He says.
Never look away from My eyes, my Darling.
You are precious to me, He says.
Your glances and belief in me please me greatly.
Dare not remove your eyes from me and
Peace shall surround you.
Blessings shall abound in you.
I will be MORE in you.
Do you believe me now? He asks.
I believe you, I answer.
Always and Forever.
Jesus, you are.
