Promo stops for new books and new authors. I’ve been getting lots of e-mails from authors to review their books. Since my TBR list never seem to thin out, I just don’t have time to read additional books (and I’ve been so slow in reading lately. anyway) So, I thought of this meme to help them promote their book instead. Random thoughts from me. Really. Anything under the sun! by Jill from Breaking the Spine This meme features books that I can’t wait to get hold on of. This is from Jill from Breaking the Spine. inspired by In My Mailbox by The Story Siren. This meme features all the stuffs I got from that week. *Note* The 2 memes I made up were created by me (from one of my daydreaming).

Hello guys!
.
So, I have to be honest. I haven’t been in the book world for a loooong long time. I mean, I do try to keep up every now through youtube, and through following my fave authors on social media. But that’s it. Better than nothing right?
.
ANYWAY… this post is about my review for A Court of Wings and Ruin. Let’s start!!!
.
-0-
.
.
.
IT WAS SOOOOO SOOOOO VERYYY GOOD you guyssssss!
.
I honestly can’t say anything awful about it. I know I am too optimistic of a person and you might read other reviews who think otherwise. However, in all honesty, I truly enjoyed the book so much. Including but not limited to the HIGHS and the lows, the emotional roller coaster, twist and turns, la la la. Even the times when there wasn’t much exciting happening, I still enjoyed those moments. It was no ‘lull’ for me. Sarah (the author) just made it work. You know when usually it’s those times we usually complain ‘we need some action going on here!’ and when the plot seems to go awry? But never happened! I don’t know if I’m in too deep with my serotonin hormone levels so high I’m drowning in them while reading! ha!
.
Sarah Maas’s writing is flawless. She gets better with every new book she publishes.
.
The story was captivating, enigmatic. Enchanting. I was engaged the whole time.
The plot twistsss had me screaming at empty air inside my apartment. The fact is that’s true story right there. And I haven’t done that in a loooong time. Like I don’t even remember what was the last read-worthy book I read (except the Bible of course).
.
Okay let’s talk about the characters– because they are important right? And they’re kind of the main party in the book. So….- I love them all. They’ve sort of become my family too, not in a ‘I-have-no-friends-except-books’ kind of way, but just humor me, you know what I mean!
.
Feyre is just something else. She’s lighting up her fire like never before! Rhys is just wonderful. I cannot even begin to describe how much I adore him the more we get to know his character. And I am not saying he’s perfect, because he’s not. But in context, everything he is just admirable, and I love him for who he is kinda thing. Him and Feyre are just #relationshipgoals
I really love how Rhys’ Night Court is just as much as a family as it is work. Ugh. I can just relate to the situation so much given where I am in my life right now— It’s not the perfect situation BUT it is perfect for me… Sometimes it even feels so much so much … that I don’t know if I’d describe it as cheesy or not. LOL.
.
There are definitely more characters whose stories were not told completely. And my curiosity bug is dying to get to know them more and I want their own happy endings too!
.
LASTLY.
.
Somehow, even if this is only fiction, but the hidden lessons lurking underneath each page are something I’ll take with me even years after reading this book the first time. What are those, you might ask?
.
Take for example the feminist conversations they have- in the main culture of the world of the story, only men fight. But in the Night Court, Rhys opened up a way for women to be able to fight too. And one of the things I like about Rhys is how he always allows Feyre to decide for herself. It’s just very liberating and refreshing. I never see that too much on books, and I just support it so much! (giggles). Can’t remember anything else on top of my head. Dang! Should have taken notes right?
.
This series is literally one for the books. (no pun intended!) It deserves to be read over and over again. I will perhaps read it again when I have time!
.
Rhysand & Feyre, and friends, ’till we meet again! NEXT YEAR.
.
PS. IMAGINE HOW happy I was when the last page said SERIES TO CONTINUE NEXT YR??!!! I am so out of the tube I didn’t even know they decided to extend the series by writing more novels (but not part of the trilogy) though still part of the whole story.
.
xoxo,

What did I think of this book? I think this is the most emotional, honest and heartbreaking book Colleen Hoover has ever written yet. There’s too much emotion I could feel at the same time: fear, elation, hope, expectancy, sadness, empathy… that I did not even cry a single tear. And I always […]
I have so many emotions about this book. First things first, it was a couple of chapters into the book after I got my “hand” in reading it again. Getting used to the new characters in a “world” background I am already familiar and in love with. Then there were a couple of issues […]
I KNOW. Why just 3.5? I’m just gonna DIVE STRAIGHT to the point. I couldn’t count how many times this book frustrated me. I do love action scenes and the “dying before victory” kinda plot every now and then in books. But somehow “Winter” just brought it to a whole new other level […]
Let’s be real here guys. First, I want to say thanks for reading this review/post! It’s been months since I last posted. I totally lack commitment writing on this blog! I hope to remedy that the next couple of weeks! Okay, for the review! It’s no secret that I love Sarah J. Maas, from the first […]

New book launch- The Girl from Berlin by Ronald H. Balson

THE GIRL FROM BERLIN
St. Martin’s Press
on-sale October 9
In the newest novel from internationally-bestselling author Ronald. H. Balson, Liam and Catherine come to the aid of an old friend and are drawn into a property dispute in Tuscany that unearths long-buried secrets
An old friend calls Catherine Lockhart and Liam Taggart to his famous Italian restaurant to enlist their help. His aunt is being evicted from her home in the Tuscan hills by a powerful corporation claiming they own the deeds, even though she can produce her own set of deeds to her land. Catherine and Liam’s only clue is a bound handwritten manuscript, entirely in German, and hidden in its pages is a story long-forgotten…
Ada Baumgarten was born in Berlin in 1918, at the end of the war. The daughter of an accomplished first-chair violinist in the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic, and herself a violin prodigy, Ada’s life was full of the rich culture of Berlin’s interwar society. She formed a deep attachment to her childhood friend Kurt, but they were torn apart by the growing unrest as her Jewish family came under suspicion. As the tides of history turned, it was her extraordinary talent that would carry her through an unraveling society turned to war, and make her a target even as it saved her, allowing her to move to Bologna―though Italy was not the haven her family had hoped, and further heartache awaited.
What became of Ada? How is she connected to the conflicting land deeds of a small Italian villa? As they dig through the layers of lies, corruption, and human evil, Catherine and Liam uncover an unfinished story of heart, redemption, and hope―the ending of which is yet to be written.

Books and Empathy.

People often tell me that I am kind and understanding. I am not denying both but honestly I’m not perfect. One thing I want to share though is that there was something that actually helped me become more understanding and empathic. It’s reading.
I have always loved reading out of leisure. However, six years ago it changed. I started reading like there was no tomorrow. My time was consumed by reading. It’s crazy to think back how saturated I was by reading one book after another. One year I read around 150 books. Another year I read close to 200. Some of those books were 600-pages bound. You’d think I was not doing anything else in my life, but I actually still worked then…
When I read, I let myself be the character. The protagonist, the antagonist, the narrator. The kind, the jealous, the vain, the villain, the child, the daughter, the mother, the neighbor, the killer, the queen, the pauper. It was as if I was them and them me. I lived their life. In a mansion, a palace, a trailer, a wooden box, the streets, the trees. With every book I finished, a life I lived. All ’70 years’ of them.
I get to be the kind of person I am not in real life. I get to be a mean evil person, killing and stealing. Adventurous and taking risks. Bad ass and unafraid. Vulnerable and bare. Drama queen. Spoiled. Vain. It was fun. Every time I closed the book, I was back to my own self. Best of both worlds?
In the end, my English got better, but one thing I did not expect to gain from all those readings was born out of me. My empathy grew even larger.
I guess you could say it still depends on the person how they approach reading. I’m not saying go read now so your empathic senses deepen. You could try that if you want. It worked for me, unplanned but welcomed.
Maybe, the next time you pick up a book, choose to be the character, understand their flaws, live their lives. Learn from their mistakes and successes. You never know, maybe as you finish and close the book, you’ll find yourself more understanding. A bigger and a better person.
To choose the ‘benefit of the doubt’ with every person that come your way. Choose kind. Always.

2016 marks 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl, the author of beloved stories such as Matilda, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The BFG. Two of Roald Dahl’s most popular novels, James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, were written while Roald Dahl lived in the U.S. and were inspired by American culture—finding success here first before going on to become global bestsellers.
.
.
ABOUT ROALD DAHL
Roald Dahl (1916-1990) was born in Wales of Norwegian parents. In 1951, Roald Dahl met his future wife, the American actress Patricia Neal, who starred in films including The Day the Earth Stood Still, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Hud, for which she won an Oscar. After establishing himself as a writer for adults, Roald Dahl began writing children’s stories in 1960 and wrote two of his best-known novels, James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the U.S.
In September 1964, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was published initially in the U.S. with the U.K. following a few years later. It would go on to become one of the most famous and best-known of Roald’s stories. The idea for the story grew out of his own well-documented love of chocolate and his school-day memories of acting as a taster for a famous chocolate factory. These first stories were written as entertainment for his own children, to whom many of his books are dedicated.
Today, Roald Dahl’s stories are available in 58 languages and have sold more than 200 million books. With more than 40 million Roald Dahl books in print in the U.S. alone, Dahl is considered one of the most beloved storytellers of our time and his popularity continues to increase as his fantastic novels, including James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, The BFG, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, delight an ever-growing legion of fans.
